Meaningful Use
Eagle provides regular articles about Meaningful use and updates from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The Meaningful Use program will fragment on 1/1/2017. Physicians who participate in the Medicare version of Meaningful Use will instead participate in the “Advancing Care Information” component of the MIPS Program. The existing Meaningful Use rules and programs will continue for hospitals and physician practices who participate under the Medicaid Meaningful Use program.

Why is Meaningful Use not dead? For hospitals, and for physicians participating in the Medicaid MU program, no imminent change is expected in the Meaningful Use rules. However, CMS is exploring options for updating these programs to reward providers for outcomes, to allow providers flexibility, to promote innovation and new technologies and to encourage interoperability.
