MIPS Strategy: Topped Out Measures
During 2018, CMS has classified six of the MIPS quality measures “topped out” which makes achieving a high final score a bit tougher. In subsequent years, more measures will become topped out so providers will need to identify new measures in order to achieve the same MIPS final score.

The CMS Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) rules have changed for 2018, and the financial impact for physician practices has edged higher. Based on performance in 2018, physician reimbursement for Medicare Part B in calendar year 2020 will be reduced by as much as 5%.
